Water Treatment

Water Testing

Although not necessarily harmful to your health, hard water can take its toll on hot water tanks, sinks, toilets, and tubs and increases the need for repairs and replacement. By testing a sample of your water we can recommend the best water softener for your needs.

Sediment Filtration

Older public water systems and well water can contain sediment such as sand, iron, silt, and more. By filtering these contaminants from your water you can improve the performance of your water softener, water heater, washing machine and dishwasher while lengthening their lifespan.

Water Softening/Conditioning

Like its name suggests, hard water can be hard on you and your water heater, causing dull hair and fabrics, dry skin, scale build up, rings on tubs, and more. Water softening systems can minimize the hard water effects of calcium, magnesium, iron, copper, and lead throughout your home, reducing labour and spending.

Reverse Osmosis

Even when your water is affected by adverse conditions such as foul taste, smell, or colour, drinking straight from your tap doesn't have to be a thing of the past. Through Reverse Osmosis we can treat contaminates that would otherwise result in reduced desirability or even adverse health conditions.

Backflow Prevention

It could be argued that there are few things more detrimental to your home and your family than raw sewage and flood waters forcing their way in unimpeded. Without a sufficient back flow valve in place, you are playing a game of chance with your home and your most cherished possessions when water plants fail and storms rage outside.

During its everyday duties, a back flow valve located in the main line remains open as water is carried from your home. In the event that this water flow becomes reversed, the valve is closed automatically and will remain that way until the flow is returned to normal and the pressure has been regulated again. Without this ability, used water and raw sewage will back up into your drains and threaten to overflow toilets, showers, and tubs, causing thousands of dollars in damages and hazardous health conditions.

WD McGlynn Plumbing is licensed and certified in backflow prevention and have serviced restaurants, dental clinics, apartments, homes or businesses with irrigation systems and more. We provide surveys, installation, and testing as well as repairs.

Hydronic Heating Systems

Hydronic (radiant) heating is an energy efficient system that utilizes tubing to distribute hot water or an alternative heated liquid beneath a floor, along base board heaters, or through radiators in order to heat your home. Promoting smart green building, the system adds comfort and heating zone control as well as savings through lower heating bills.

Most often, loops of plastic piping are installed within the concrete slab or floor joist system as radiant flooring where they allow the heat to radiate evenly across the entire floor surface. Beginning in an energy efficient boiler, the liquid is heated before flowing to a plumbing manifold system which directs the correct temperature of water to the various heating zones of your home via your thermostat. This enables each zone to maintain a steady, personalized temperature while pumps work steadily to circulate newly heated water and cooler water is returned to the boiler to repeat the process.
